our goals

To provide a quality well rounded developmentally appropriate elementary program that meets the Common Core Curriculum Standards recommended by the Department Of Education.

To provide children with Christian curriculum for the purpose of teaching God's littlest Disciples through the study of the Bible and it's messages.

Wesley Christian Academy uses McGraw-Hill Reading Wonders Curriculum, which includes the crucial reading program components, plus a Reading/Writing Workshop which is key to unlocking the State Standards and their rigorous expectations. It is built from the ground up to meet help each child achieve their goals with the necessary scaffolding and support for teachers and students. We also incorporate Saxon Math, which is a teaching method for incremental learning of mathematics. It involves teaching a new mathematical concept every day and constantly reviewing old concepts. It splits the day’s work evenly between practicing the new materials and reviewing previous concepts.

Our school day is divided between:

  • Literacy Centers: which give students the chance to practice using skills and concepts they have learned in other settings;
  • Small Guided Reading Groups: to allow student and teacher time to work on targeted, specific skills.
  • Writing Workshops: practicing handwriting and cursive skills, through journal entries, personal narratives, poetry and other written texts;
  • Bible Exploration: enhance and challenge our young disciples in their understanding of the teachings of the Bible.
  • Hands-on-Math:  Students engage in math instruction that allows students to learn math skills in a tangible way
  • Science Discovery: that provides a Christ-centered view into how the universe works and
  • Social Studies: that takes a look into history.

Our staff will provide situations in which each student can succeed in order to develop their intellectual, personal and spiritual confidence.
